Romance and Roses

Romance and Rose
was a fun evening last night (yearly event for married and engaged couples)…the event sold-out, so a few of the staff couples actually ate before we got their.
Kenn Kington, a comedian, had three segments during the program.

His funniest bit was the "we" in marriage. For instance, "Honey, we need to paint the bedroom," actually means the me/the husband needs to paint the bedroom. That is better known as a ‘he-we’. On the other hand, there is the ‘she-we’, "Do we need to go to the store." Every once in a while there is a ‘we-we’… I will let you come up with the description on that one. Kelly and I definitely can identify with the ‘we’s’.

Kenn has shared a couple of what he called absolutes for marriage. First, is to expect nothing…that our relational journey in marriage will be better when we do not hold onto a long list of expectations for our spouse. The second, appreciate everything because we take often take our spouse for granted. So, we should be honest, proactive, and vocal to share our appreciation for our spouse.
