Growing up in Knoxville, the football crazed town that it is, I would have to say my family was rare because we had season tickets to the basketball Vols and not football. Both sides of my family are basketball folks. My mom’s side is from basketball rich North Carolina. My dad grew up loving basketball and coached youth basketball for over 30 years. And then, I married a fellow high school basketball player and today my in-laws have season tickets to the Lady Vols. So, obviously we love the round ball.
Now that basketball season is here and the men’s basketball Vols are good and really fun to watch, I am in heaven. The Vols won tonight…yes, the Basketball Vols thumped the perennial basketball power Tigers of Memphis. Chris Lofton (in my top 5 favorite basketball Vols of my life time) scored career-high 34 and was hitting every type of offensive shot imaginable. He is easily a first team all-american and the best shooter in college b-ball. You has range from 25 feet with people in his face.
Bruce Pearl is an unbelievable coach, leader, and marketer. Tennessee men’s basketball is for sure back on the map. What a great game…JaJuan Smith with a 360 dunk, great D, two big name coaches.
Say it with me…V-O-L-S, Go Vols Go!
Who else is on your top 5 favorite basketball Vols list?
