We have a great team of Production volunteers at FBCSmyrna who do an awesome job of taking ownership of the ministry. I have always been impressed with the culture that David Cox and his team have created. I just read a great email from David to our Production volunteers. The email was to communicate a transition in our Video Team leadership from Jim to Greg.
Jim has been helping David lead our video team for some time now and has done a great job of creating systems and developing volunteers. With some of the projects that are ahead for our Production department and church, Jim began to sense that a transition was needed to take our Video team to the next level. As Jim sought direction from God, he felt it was time to step down from his role and allow a new person to take the reigns. Although he will not in serve in the same role, he still is going to serve and use what he is good at (and has done an incredible job) to help the Video team be successful.
Being able to watch and listen to the conversations that have caused this transition has impressed and inspired me. Jim’s ‘move’ is a great picture of leadership! He understands the mission and is giving his all to see it come about…even if that is moving himself out of a role of leadership and authority. The result will be a better ministry because Jim will continue to serve and provide his needed skills to the team. Greg will step in and give his expertise to the team. I also know that Jim will be stronger and happier because he has made a decision based upon humility, obedience to God, and for the strength of the mission and organization. I am thankful for people and leaders like David, Jim, and Greg who have a spirit of teamwork, humility, passion and excellence. It is these type of leaders who make an organization strong and successful. Thanks Guys!
