Go Time to Tell the Truth
Preparing for speaking in the Core series last week and working through the our current Go Time series, I pulled out one of my favorite books from seminary days that still refer to. There is some great insight and application in this book for when it comes to living out the command Jesus has given us to "…go and make disciples…"
If you are like me, there is tension on what to share and how to share when you see the opportunity to share Christ with someone. We might have been taught or even pressured to have a slick presentation that leads me at times to step into the roll of a salesman, which I can do pretty well. But, when it comes to things of faith that is not authentic and only leads to confusion in the future. Maybe this might be a new approach for you:
"Instead of these tactics, offer passages like Isaiah 53:1-11, Psalm 51:1-17, and Galatians 2:20, and then in many (but not all) cases leave them alone. God will finish what he has begun. We can urge them to pray and seek mercy and to keep doing so until God answers. We need to direct seeking sinners to come and rejoice with us when they know God has answered (inner witness, Romans 8:14-16), and they see their motives and actions begin to change (outer evidence, 1 John)."
Wow. It's Quiet Here...
