I am currently spending my quiet time in Ephesians. Chose a shorter passage this morning, Ephesians 2:1-3, and wanted to share part of my journal from this morning. He is what I realized after reading this passage (and getting a little glimpse of the passage tomorrow):
What I once was:
-dead
-dead because of what I did wrong
-dead because of my rebellious heart
-dead because of my life’s direction
-dead because I followed the world
-dead because aligned my rebellious heart with the rebellious heart of my enemy
-dead because I was a son of disobedience
-dead because I fulfilled the passions of my flesh
-dead because I carried the desires of the physical and not the spiritual
-dead just like the rest of mankind gripped by sin
BUT GOD (v. 4)
…with "But God", I have life—not just avoiding hell or oxygen to breath but real life, purpose, joy, community, His truth, His wisdom, His presence—life
Wow. It's Quiet Here...
